Hawaii-born Barack Obama is our nation's choice for the 44th President of the United States.
Barack Obama's father, Barack Obama Sr., was born in Kenya, and his mother Ann Dunham was born in a small town in Kansas. Obama's father eventually returned to Kenya and Barack grew up with his mother in Hawaii. Later, Barack Obama moved to New York and attended Columbia University and later earned a law degree from Harvard.
Barack Obama's rich and varied life experiences have shaped his political journey. In a highly bipartisan society, Barack Obama is able to unite parties and people under a similar purpose: solving the challenges of everyday Americans. This is a big part of what makes Barack Obama such a suitable candidate in the 2008 election.
Barack Obama served as senator of Illinois, working with parties to help families by creating programs like Earned Income Tax Credit. Senator Obama also worked with local law enforcement to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases. Barack Obama was able to make huge improves in the local law during his time in the Illinois State Senate.
Barack Obama has written two books: Dreams from My Father and The Audacity of Hope. The Audacity of Hope quickly rose to the top of The New York Times Best Seller hardcover list. Obama has two daughters, Malia Ann Obama and Natasha Obama. Some fun facts about presidential candidate Barack Obama are that he is a basketball enthusiast, he is left-handed, and he recently quit smoking before announcing his candidacy. Perhaps Obama's effort to quit smoking can be an inspiration to others.
The New York Times has a number of blogs by musicians, including Suzanne Vega, Chicagoan Andrew Bird and founding member of my beloved dB's, Peter Holsapple.
One of the other contributors is a guy I'd never heard of, Jeffrey Lewis. He's got a post about his art-- he does music and comic books-- and an introduction to the video below, which is a short comic book/song biography of Barack Obama.
